The four diverse multi-functional candle holders / bud vases are intricate and vaguely ornamented iconic objects that are inspired by the traditional alems and the forms of ancient Turkey.
Imagine the turrets and spires of traditional Turkish architecture and you have the inspiration for these graceful crystal candlesticks by New York-based designer Karim Rashid for Gaia & Gino
Remove the small glass inserts and they become bud vases.
Story of the collection
In old times, the Ottomans used candelabras for lighting. These candleabras are the contemporary interpretation of this old tradition. The name of the collection is a witty anaphora of Karim's name which in Turkish means wife and sweetheart.
